Publication Ethics Statement
Journal of System Simulation follows the guidelines given by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Any forms of academic misconduct is not acceptable. The following outlines the duties and responsibilities that our editors, authors and reviewers should carry out.
Duties of Editors:
- Editors should play an important role in ethical oversight. Each submitted manuscript should be treated objectively, equally and rigorously, regardless of any nonacademic factors such as author, gender, institution, country, race, research support, funding, private opinions, etc.
- Editors should keep confidential all details of the peer review and editorial process on a submitted manuscript untill it is published or rejected.
- JSS uses double-blind review. Editors should invite reviewers that will not be influenced by commercial interests or conflicts of interest.
- Editors should remain original comments of reviewers without any falsify and send them to the authors along with a decision (accept, accept with minor revision, rereview after major revision, reject) based on the reviewers’ comments.
- Anyone can inform the editors of any potential error or fraud in the published articles of JSS and manuscripts submitted to JSS. Editors should conduct the investigation objectively and scientifically as soon as possible and invite experts to participate the process if necessary. A correction notice should be published once the error or fraud has been confirmed.
- Any complaints or appeals cannot be treated casually. In general, editors should give an official response within seven work days. If this is not possible, editors should give an interim response within seven work days and make a full response within one month.
Duties of Authors:
- Authors should ensure that he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the manuscript.
- Submitted manuscripts should be written entirely originally, truly, and accurately without any plagiarism. All the supporting data and source should be correctly cited.
- Submitted manuscripts cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). In addition, by submitting material to JSS, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at JSS.
- The authors of an article should be the contributors who have made substantive intellectual contributions to the work. Submitted manuscripts cannot casually add or delet author‘s names. For any author name change requests, please contact the editors with compelling reasons.
- The suggestions made by the reviewers should be taken seriously.
- Data sharing is encouraged which promotes reproducibility, reduces duplication, and allows for re-use and re-purposing.
- Authors should disclose all relationships/activities/interests that are related to the content of your manuscript, if any. These could be of financial, professional or personal nature. Accordingly, there should be a competing interest statement at the end of the paper.
Duties of Reviewers:
- Reviewers should evaluate the submitted manuscripts objectively, based on the quality, completeness and accuracy of the research presented.
- Reviewers should help to identify plagiarism, research fraud, invalid research and other problems that can negatively affect the quality of JSS.
- Reviewers should ensure that the peer review process is totally confidential and they do not retain copies of submitted manuscripts or use the information for any purpose unrelated to the peer-review process.
- Reviewers should decline to review a paper if they feel that there are some interests that may interfere with an objective review.
