Abstract
Abstract: To address the issue of insufficient consistency among view products in the architectural design process, this paper proposes an automatic view product generation method based on the architecture metamodel. To enhance the consistency of view products, the method abandons the traditional post-design verification approach. Instead, it uses the information flow/data flow defined in the metamodel as the benchmark, and through explicit associations among architectural data as well as mapping relationships between view products and data, automatically derives and generates behavioral view products from structural and classificational view products. A prototype tool developed based on this method has been validated in multiple architectural design projects. The results show that this method can effectively reduce the inconsistency problems caused by manually designing different view products separately, significantly shorten the design cycle. Especially when the design content is determined, the traditional manual drawing of OV-2 or OV-6c usually takes from hours to days depending on the content. By using this method to automatically generate OV-2 and OV-6c, the drawing time can be ignored. Moreover, traditional manual drawing cannot guarantee the design quality, while this method improves the design quality and efficiency simultaneously.
